Hindi: Freedom at Midnight Season 2
The Hindi historical drama series is back as the lines are about to be drawn between India and Pakistan, heralding the formation of new nations. Britishers and top leaders of Nehru, Jinnah and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel debate over which area joins which country. Nikkhil Advani’s series promises yet another gripping tale as it takes back to one of the biggest historical events of the subcontinent.
Tamil: Mask
A whopping amount of Rs 440 crore gets stolen, sparking off a high-stakes pursuit to win it back. Actor Kavin is seen as the sleuth Velu who must call his cards carefully as Andrea Jeremiah plays the villain. The Tamil thriller film opened to mixed reviews, but is still awaited in the digital space.
Malayalam: Balti
Four enthusiastic kabaddi players find their lives upended when their paths cross that of powerful criminals in their small town, situated along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Actor Shane Nigam leads the film, which also features Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Preethi Asrani of Ayothi fame, Alphonse Puthren and Selvaraghavan. The Shane Nigam film will drop on Prime Video and OTTplay Premium subscribers can also watch it with a top-up option.
Kannada: Ekam
This Kannada anthology looks at seven different tales, including that of a young couple, a skilled hunter and a middle-aged maid. Ekam boasts some notable names in its cast, including the likes of Prakash Raj and Raj B Shetty, along with Shine Shetty and Mansi Sudhir. Ekam was released last year on a TVOD basis, and is now getting a wide release on the streaming platform Zee5 (OTTplay Premium).
Marathi: Me Savitribai Jotirao Phule
This Marathi show narrates the inspirational tale of Savitribai and Jotirao Phule, who were the pioneers of women’s education in India. Their pioneering work, the struggles they faced and their determined fight against the ills of society are depicted in the TV show, which is also available on streaming.
