Today is a historic day for the people of India as India's new Parliament building has been inaugurated. On this auspicious day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the plaque and placed the Sengol inside the Parliament house.
Knowing this development, several celebrities from the entertainment industry including Shah Rukh Khan, Anupam Kher, and Akshay Kumar have dropped their heartfelt messages on the occasion. And to join this bandwagon of wishes is legendary Indian music composer Ilaiyaraaja.
Taking to Twitter, Ilaiyaraaja dropped a letter celebrating the spirit of democracy in the country and thanked countrymen for their efforts in making of the new Parliament building.
He wrote, “...as the Prime Minister inaugurates the new Parliament building, I am happy and excited as a citizen and especially as a Parliamentarian and join our joyous and proud nation in congratulating PM Modi, the Government of India and all those people who have contributed to building this historic structure in such a short time. I sincerely pray the new structure becomes the abode for transformational policies and decision making as the world celebrates a new India under the inspirational leadership of PM Modi.”
The music composer also talked about the importance and significance of the Sengol placed inside the Parliament premises. He says, “The royalty who possessed the revered Sengol (an ancient Tamilian culture and pride) and successfully ruled over their kingdoms, revered the sceptre as a symbol of justice, order, honesty, and ethics.”
“It is with immense pride and joy that we welcome the return of the sceptre to its rightful place of pride. As head of the world's largest democracy, PM Modi has a vision of taking India to new heights, and his duty-bound actions reflect the same. May God be with him in all his endeavours, and I sincerely wish him and, the Government of India all success on this momentous occasion,” he wraps up.
Notably, the 79-year-old music maestro Ilaiyaraaja has received several awards for his works throughout his career. The awards include Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour in India; and the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award by the Government of India. He is also a nominated Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, since July 2022.
