The Jost brothers, Casey Jost and Colin Jost have teamed up together to work as writers on Paramount Pictures’ new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, reports Deadline. The news comes on the heels of the announcement that Seth Rogen was developing an animated reboot of the shelled superheroes.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are about four anthropomorphic turtle brothers who are trained martial artists, each specialising in a different weapon. Their adoptive father is a sewer rat and the brothers live in the New York City sewers, fighting evil while trying to stay hidden from the public eye. They made their first appearance in a comic book in 1984 and have since then appeared in several TV shows and movies.
The film’s title and plot details have not been revealed as yet but Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker are on board as producers, according to the international publication.
Colin has been serving as head writer on the variety-sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live since 2017, starting his stint at the show in its writing department in 2005. He also serves as an anchor on one of SNL’s recurring sketches called Weekend Update. In addition to being an important part of SNL, which has earned him Emmy nominations for his writing, Jost has also had a role in the 2021 Tom & Jerry movie and is currently on the writing team of Universal’s Worst Man.
Meanwhile, Casey Jost has served as a producer on truTV’s popular Impractical Jokers, a prank show. He has also written for The Special Without Brett Davis, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Characters Welcome.
