Newly engaged celebrity couple Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha remained in limelight in the month of May – and for the right reasons. The duo held a lavish engagement ceremony in the Capital city on May 13 which saw several high-profile celebrities from Bollywood and elsewhere in attendance.

While Parineeti is best known for her remarkable acting career in Bollywood, her soon-to-be husband remains in news owing to his professional commitments in the political sphere.

Today morning, in the first such incident after getting engaged, the celebrity couple feels saddened. Here’s why.

On Friday evening, over 200 people have died and around 900 were injured as Coromandel, Bengaluru-Howrah Express trains derailed and hit a goods train at Bahanaga station in Balasore district of Odisha.

Knowing this, the couple expressed grief on their respective Twitter handles. Parineeti wrote, “I’m praying for everyone involved in the horrible accidents in Odisha. I wish for the families, friends, and loved ones to find strength and heal as soon as possible. God bless everyone.”

AAP leader Raghav Chadha tweeted, “Deeply pained by the news of the horrific train accident in Balasore, which has claimed hundreds of precious lives. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover quickly. We stand with the bereaved families in this time of grief.”

Several other celebrities including those from the entertainment industry have expressed grief and offered condolences to those affected by the incident.

Popular Indian cricketer Virat Kohli tweeted, “Saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” Kohli is the most-followed Asian celebrity on Instagram with over 250 million followers.

Megastar Salman Khan tweets, “Really saddened to hear about the accident, May God rest the souls of the deceased in peace, protect and give strength to the families and the injured from this unfortunate accident.”

Superstar Akshay Kumar said, “Heartbreaking to see the visuals from the tragic train accident in Odisha. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. My thoughts and condolences to the families of the affected during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”

Popular Bollywood actor Sonu Sood dropped a heartbreak emoticon as he shared a news article on the development. Actor Junior NTR, filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, and actor Sunny Deol, too, felt saddened to know about the development.
