At the start of 2023, Kannada film aficionados were in for a treat, when pretty much all of their favourite stars took to the field at the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup. Over two days on February 11 and 12, six teams battled it out against each other with Dhananjaya’s Ganga Warriors taking home the trophy. And within a week, many of the top KCC players were off to be a part of the Sandalwood team at the Celebrity Cricket League, making it to the semi-final of the tournament. It was a lot of back-to-back cricket for the boys. With both the tournaments set to return shortly, one hoped that there would not be a repeat of such hectic schedules and turns out, there will be 2-month gap.

According to the latest, the fourth edition of KCC will be held in mid December. It is expected that the six team format will be retained, but whether the tournament will follow the T-20 format in Test style with four innings of 10 overs in all remains to be seen. While Kiccha Sudeep is a fan of the format, fans have been requesting him and other tournament officials to revert to a regular T20 championship. The tournament allows each team to have one former international player, with the likes of Herschelle Gibbs, Tilakaratne Dilshan, Chris Gayle, Suresh Raina, among others playing. Fans are waiting eagerly for word on the international players of the next edition.

Also, given that the tournament was only two-days long, there was no scope for all teams to play each other, which Sudeep is likely to rectify. KCC may follow the World Cup format this time around. Then, in February, Kiccha Sudeep will join the Karnataka Bulldozers for a new season of the Celebrity Cricket League. Akhil Akkineni’s Telugu Warriors are the defending champions. The Bulldozers, who’ve won the tournament multiple times will make a strong attempt to emerge victorious this time around.
