On February 24 and 25, Kiccha Sudeep presented a two-day spectacle of scintillating cricketing action that had almost the entire Kannada film industry in attendance. Six teams played six qualifiers with the top two meeting in a finale. While the teams largely comprised filmi people, each also had one current professional cricket player from Karnataka, they were also allowed one international player each, for which Sudeep decided to get six former heavyweights – Chris Gayle, Herschelle Gibbs, Suresh Raina, Brian Lara, Tilakaratne Dilshan and S Badrinath.

The closing ceremony on Saturday had some scintillating performances by Gurukiran, Vijay Prakash, Aditii Sagar and Chandan Shetty, with the latter even managing a special moment with Gayle. On the side-lines of the event, Chandan decided to show Gayle some of his work and the one song that really stuck with the former cricketer is the party anthem 3 Peg. One of Chandan’s earliest and best works, featuring Aindrita Ray in the video, the song, which came out six years ago, has 139 million views to date. Chandan shared a reel of Gayle watching the song and praising it. Gayle said, “Nice Party Song… Nice Vibes… Those songs make you dance.” Reacting to the reel, fans said that it was a great moment, as Chandan got the approval of the ‘Universe Boss’.

During his KCC stint, Gayle played only two innings, and made sure to entertain the crowd, either with his bat, or by grooving to popular Kannada numbers while out on the field.

Meanwhile, Chandan, who has been bringing out a steady stream of singles, while also composing for films, is also making inroads as an actor. He will soon be seen in Sujay Shastry’s next directorial, Elra Kaal Eliyutte Kaala and has also signed up for a whodunnit thriller called Suthradari, in which he he will play an investigator.
