Spider-Noir is the title of the upcoming live-action series in which Nicolas Cage (Sympathy for the Devil and Dream Scenario) will play the beloved black-and-white Spider-Man Noir. The veteran actor appears in the series' first look photo, which was unveiled on May 12 during Amazon's annual upfront presentation in New York City, wearing the character's distinctive noir-inspired attire, which includes a fedora, white goggles, a black webbed mask, and a trench coat.
Spider-Man Noir is a character from Marvel Comics, and the series is set to premiere in 2026. There is a difference between the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse—in which Cage portrayed Spider-Noir—and the live-action series, which is based on the comic books but is not a sequel.
Spider-Noir unfolds in 1930s New York, tracing the journey of an ageing private detective grappling with his past as a superhero in the city. Viewers can choose between black-and-white and coloured versions of the series.
Among the actors included are Brendan Gleeson, Jack Huston, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Lamorne Morris. The series has guest stars such as Cary Christopher, Joe Massingill, Andrew Caldwell, Cameron Britton, Cameron, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster, as well as Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, and Andrew Caldwell.
The show will launch on MGM+'s linear channel in the United States on the same day it streams internationally on Prime Video.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Spider-Noir will be available only on MGM+ and Prime Video. Both the directing and executive producing duties for the pilot and second episodes are being carried out by the Emmy-winning Harry Bradbeer. Executive producers and co-showrunners include Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot.
Uziel and Lightfoot worked with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal of Into the Spider-Verse to produce the show. Miller, Lord, Aditya Sood, and Dan Shear are the executive producers via Lord Miller. Pascal Pictures is also involved, with Amy Pascal serving as an executive producer.
The premiere date is still up in the air.
