Nikhoj-director Ayan Chakraborti: I prefer taking some time between each project

Tota Roy Chowdhury, Swastika Mukherjee, Koneenica Banerjee, and others are geared up with a brand-new web series, Nikhoj, on Hoichoi. Directed by Ayan Chakraborti, the series will be dropped on August 11. With this, Ayan returns with a new web series after almost three years. In 2020, Ayan’s successful web series The Judgment Day was dropped. In the meantime, his directorial feature Shororipu 2 was also released on the big screen.

Nikhoj delves into the life of Brinda Basu, played by Swastika – a high-ranking police officer. On the other hand, she is a single mother. Her daughter, Diti, just graduated from school and is now heading to college. However, Diti goes missing without a trace. How will Brinda find her missing daughter? 

Currently, many directors are creating numerous web series in the Bengali entertainment industry. Why did he take so much time for this new series? In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Ayan said, “I prefer taking some time between each project. Writing a screenplay takes a lot of time for me. Besides, I want to handle the job of directing a film or a web series with patience.”

At this moment, both the main actors of Ayan's series are working in Bollywood. Last week, Tota's film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was released on the big screen, and his performance was praised. Speaking about Tota and Swastika, Ayan said, “On the second day of rehearsals, Swastika wanted to know when the shooting would start. She was very excited. And Tota’s look for the character of Romit in the series was my favorite, so there was no chance of thinking about anyone else for that role.” The music for this series is done by Rupam Islam.
