No one has to introduce Shoojit Sircar, a National Award winner and one of the most lauded storytellers of our time. The filmmaker has consistently conveyed messages of beauty and warmth through his work. Among the films through which Sircar has demonstrated his storytelling prowess in October are Vicky Donor, Gulabo Sitabo, Sardar Udham, and Madras Cafe. Moreover, in his impressive filmography, the touching tale of a father and daughter's journey—Piku—stands out.

A special focus on Piku: A touching tale of father-daughter bond

Following the heartwarming release of Piku, Shoojit Sircar will release his next film with Abhishek Bachchan. The film will once again feature a father-daughter bond. In the nine years since Piku's release, the filmmaker said in a statement that father-daughter relationships are really special, while also revealing some intriguing clues about his upcoming project. He said that they present unique difficulties and social awkwardness.

Plus, there's a lot of room for lovely stories in this underrepresented relationship type, which is something Sircar strongly believes in. He could relate to Piku right away, and there was so much he could do with the plot. Just like his next, which is set to premiere in theatres throughout the world on November 15, 2024, it is also about a father and daughter's tender relationship and takes viewers on an emotional roller coaster alongside them.

Celebrating Piku: Nine years of a cult classic

Today marks the 9th anniversary of Piku's release. Shoojit Sircar's signature touch throughout the film—from the calming score to the plot and characters—has made it a cult classic among moviegoers.

In 2015, he skillfully guided the audience through the emotional roller coaster of Piku. The film features Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone playing onscreen father and daughter, while Irrfan Khan plays a man who gets sandwiched between them while on a road trip from Delhi to Kolkata.

Since the announcement of his next project with Abhishek Bachchan, fans have been eagerly awaiting it.
