Upendra’s nephew Niranjan has at least 5 films in his kitty, but has not had a release in 3 years. He says he is on course to rectify this

Real Star Upendra’s nephew Niranjan Sudhindra has not had a release in 3 years since his soft launch as leading man with Namma Hudugaru. This despite the fact that he’s got multiple projects in different stages of production, some of which started as long ago as 2020-21. There’s Hunter, Super Star, Q, Seetha Payanam and Spark, none of which have a release date in sight. What’s happening to these films?
Seetha Payanam to be first release
“I think Seetha Payanam will be my first release among these films, which should be followed by Hunter this year. With Spark, we are looking at completing it this year and having it in theatres in early 2026. The plan, thereafter, is to have at least 3 other films ready next year, so that I have 6 films by the end of 2026, which will make up for the delay in the releases,” says Niranjan in conversation with FDFS Kannada.
The hope, he adds, is for all of his films to hit theatres and strike a chord with audiences, which will encourage him to continue on the endavour to make good Kannada cinema. Seetha Payanam, meanwhile, is a romantic drama directed by Action King Arjun Sarja, which has the actor’s daughter Aishwarya paired with Niranjan. As for Spark, the action-packed drama has the young actor in the role of a journalist, in a tale based on real incidents.
The success of the Kannada film Su From So, he says, has reinforced the idea that good content is the only criteria that drives people to theatres. “If you make good cinema, audiences will place it on a pedestal; you don’t have to do anything else. The aim, therefore, is to make content-oriented cinema that strikes a chord with audiences,” adds Niranjan.
