If things had gone as per the initial plan, Hey Fakira would have been the first song from Vikrant Rona in the public domain. The song, composed by Ajaneesh Loknath and written by Anup Bhandari (in the Kannada and Hindi versions), is about Nirup Bhandari character Sanjeev Gambhira, which is probably why it was pushed ahead for a later release and two of leading man Kiccha Sudeep’s songs, Gadang Rakkamma and Rajkumari, being advanced.

Hey Fakira was released a while ago, and fans have been singing praises of Anup’s lyrics and Chinmayi Sripada’s vocals on the song. Most of the song has been sung by Sanjith Hegde, with Anup and Ajaneesh chipping in as backing vocals.

With just over two weeks to go for the release of the film, fans are hopeful that the team will release the Gumma Banda Gumma and Chikki Bombe songs too, as planned earlier. So far, all three songs have only had lyrical videos in the public domain, with only select audiences at the trailer launch of the film being privy to the full video of Gadang Rakkamma and that too in 3D on a big screen.

The film is set for release in 3D in Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu, on July 28, with Sudeep having dubbed for himself in all languages, but Malayalam. The actor has even been dubbing for the English version, which may miss the July 28 deadline, as he is currently neck-deep in the promotions of the film. A source says that the makers are looking at getting the English version also out in theatres as soon as possible.

The source adds that although the trailer gives the impression that it is a high-octane action thriller, Vikrant Rona is more of a family entertainer, with the father-daughter relationship between Sudeep’s character and that of his daughter one of the pillars of the story. The film has been produced by Shalini and Manjunath Gowda for Shalini Artss, and co-produced by Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin.
