Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana: Poet Kumar Vishwas on collaborating with AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer; 'It took 7 days to finish the music'

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is one of the most-awaited films, and it has been garnering a lot of attention since it was announced. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi as Lord Rama, Ravana, and Sita, respectively. Meanwhile, celebrated poet and author Dr. Kumar Vishwas has penned lyrics for songs in Ramayana, and he collaborated with two Academy Award-winning legends–A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer for the music of Ramayana. Recently, Vishwas opened up about the collaboration.

During a recent cultural function, Dr. Kumar Vishwas opened up about his musical collaboration with AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer for Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana. He said, It took me, Hans Zimmer & AR Rahman 7 days to finish the music for the farewell of Lord Ram from Ayodhya, because our hearts would overflow with devotion, and eyes with tears that we couldn't complete the music."

He also added that when they would write the bhajans & songs for Ramayana, all 3 of them would start crying. "There's a 'prana-tattva' in our stories. The purity of our stories touches everybody, be it Muslim, Christian, Hindu or Jew," Vishwas shared. 

About Ramayana

Earlier in July 2025, the makers shared a 3-minute announcement video of Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, who is fighting against Yash's Ravana. The makers also announced that Sai Pallavi will be seen as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.

Release date of Ramayana

Ramayana will hit theaters in two parts in 2026 and 2027. Nitesh Tiwari's film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Ravie Dubey as Lord Lakshman. Apart from them, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, Lara Dutta, and Rakul Preet Singh will play key characters.
