Nithiin's Maestro in the final leg of shoot

Sriram Raghavan's musical thriller AndhaDhun is getting remade in multiple languages simultaneously across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and all the teams are in a rush to wrap their versions at the earliest. Nithiin, Prithviraj and Prashanth headline the Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil remakes of the film respectively. The Telugu remake titled Maestro, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, entered its final leg of shoot in Hyderabad today.

Nabha Natesh reprises Radhika Apte's role from the original, while Tamannaah steps into the shoes of Tabu's character (that has been tweaked in the remake) in Maestro. Telugu audiences were in for a surprise especially with the decision to cast Tamannaah in a role for which several names were considered - including Anasuya and Tabu. Several portions of the film were also shot in Dubai recently.

AndhaDhun was a nostalgic throwback to the music of the yesteryear era and similarly, the Telugu title Maestro is expected to be a reference to composer, singer Ilaiyaraaja. It'll be interesting to see how the makers use his music in the context of the film. Senior music director Mani Sharma's son Mahathi Sagar composes music for the film. 

For streaming enthusiasts who would like to catch the original before the release of the remakes, AndhaDhun is available to stream on Netflix. The film made for a terrific blend of music (by Amit Trivedi), crime, thrills and action that thoroughly entertained the audiences. It remains to be seen if the spirit of the original is recreated across the multiple remakes.
