Nithin Krishnamurthy's film Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare has emerged as a runaway success at the box office and has been the talk of the town for quite some time. The film has now warranted a dubbed release in Telugu (by Annapoorna Studios and Chai Bisket films), titled Boys Hostel, which released in theatres on August 26 to equally positive and encouraging reviews.

Much like the Kannada version, Boys Hostel, too, has impressed audiences with its inventiveness, humour and offbeat approach that one doesn't get to see quite often. Actors like Vijay Devarakonda, Akkineni Nagarjuna and others have showered praise on the team for their efforts.

"Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare to NOT land on OTT anytime soon"

With the Kannada film currently in the sixth week of its theatrical run, it emerged recently that the film would drop on OTT either at the end of August or the first week of September, with Zee5 as the chosen partner. However, with the new Telugu version as part of the plan, Nithin Krishnamurthy & Co. assert that their film is nowhere near its digital debut and that one will have to wait a few more weeks before it does happen.

"Since Boys Hostel released only a couple of days ago, we want the new version to realize its full potential at the box office. So, bringing it to OTT would mean that we cannot do that. Also, we are currently in the process of finalizing a deal and are yet to confirm the exact date - what's for certain though is that September 1, the current rumoured date, is completely out of the picture. Both Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare or Boys Hostel will not be landing on OTT anytime soon - the next potential date we are looking at is the end of September," shares Nithin Krishnamurthy.

"An overwhelming success"

Nithin also shares that while he and the entire team believed that their film had a universal appeal, the reception they have been getting from the Telugu audiences is overwhelming. "We did initially see the potential but the prep to dub it in Telugu began well after Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare released. The main factor for the success of the Telugu version is that the team involved did a great job, especially with the dubbing. I believe that the Telugu and Kannada languages are quite similar to one another but the way the dialogues have been rewritten with all the colloquial touches and the nativity is just superb," adds Nithin.
