Filmmaker Nithish Sahadev, who made his debut with Malayalam film Falimy , is awaiting the release of his first Tamil film Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil this week. The Jiiva-starrer is hitting theatres on January 15. After this film, Nithish will be going back to Malayalam cinema as he will be joining hands with Mammootty. Speaking with OTTplay on the sidelines of promoting Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil, Nithish gave some details on what to expect from his Mammootty project.
What did Nithish Sahadev say about his Mammootty project?
Nithish Sahadev will be helming his second Malayalam directorial soon, the works for which will be starting as it coincides with the Pongal festivities. Notably, it will also be Nithish’s first film starring a tier one star. The director confirmed that it will be gangster film which will be set against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. “We start the pre-production from January 14, and it will be gangster flick,” he confirmed.
Asked how he would describe the project, Nithish said, “It is a fan-boy moment. It will be pucca commercial, mass entertainer but will respect audience perspective as well. All my thoughts are how to do something new with him. It is a lifetime achievement for me.”
Nithish added, “Just before I took the story to him, I knew that he will take it up. There are more traits and emotions for that character, and I was confident he would accept. I had worked on it for about a year and half and made sure he would not reject it.”
