Actress Nivetha Pethuraj has vehemently refuted baseless allegations made by a controversial political commentator, expressing her dismay over the spread of false news.

In a strongly worded statement, Nivetha addressed the unfounded rumours, but she steered clear of mentioning the names of the people involved in the controversy. "Lately there has been false news circulating about money being lavishly spent on me. I kept quiet because I thought people who are speaking about this will have some humanity to verify the information they receive before mindlessly spoiling a girl’s life," she said.

Nivetha Pethuraj hits back

For the uninitiated, ‘Savukku’ Shankar alias A. Shankar, alleged that Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had purportedly purchased a lavish house worth Rs 50 crore for Nivetha in Dubai.

Nivetha claimed that the allegations have taken a toll on her family's peace of mind, urging the public to exercise caution before spreading unverified information.

Nivetha also provided details about her background, stating, "I come from a very dignified family. I have been financially independent and stable since the age of 16. My family still resides in Dubai. We’ve been in Dubai for over 20 years."

Nivetha Pethuraj speaks out against 'false' claims

Setting the record straight on her residence, Nivetha rubbished the allegations and clarified, "We have lived in a rented house in Dubai since 2002. Also, racing has been my passion since 2013. In fact, I had no idea about the races being conducted in Chennai."

Addressing her career in the film industry, the actress emphasized that she has never sought favours or opportunities and that her success in over 20 films was a result of her talent and hard work. "I was and never will be greedy for work or money," she remarked.

Despite the severity of the accusations, Nivetha expressed her faith in the media and announced her decision not to pursue legal action. "I am not taking this up legally because I still believe there’s some humanity left in journalism, that they won’t continue to defame me like this," she said.

Udhayanidhi has retired from acting and making movies to focus on his political career. And he's yet to react to the allegations against him He had shared screen space with Nivetha in the 2017 rural drama Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam.
