Many could argue that Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is yet to cash in on his pan-Indian popularity that surged with Bangalore Days and Premam almost seven years ago. While he has done acclaimed films such as Moothon and Kayamkulam Kochunni, which established his range as an actor, he is yet to act in that one big project that makes use of the star he is. But that could change with his upcoming movie.

On Wednesday, the actor shared a tweet, hinting at an announcement of a new movie, which will be bankrolled by his production company Pauly Jr Pictures. Reports suggest that the film will be helmed by Tuney John, who had handled the publicity designs of Nivin and Alphonse Puthren’s Premam in 2015.

The upcoming film is also expected to have a pan-Indian release. While the makers are yet to reveal what the movie entails, it promises to be a feel-good venture revolving around the student community.

Nivin, meanwhile, is also part of Peranbu director Ram’s Tamil film. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the actor said, “Though it fits his array of films, it is told through humour. I like Ram sir as a person and a filmmaker, and that’s why I decided to do the movie.”

The actor also has completed shooting for the socio-political drama Padavettu, recently. He also has two big upcoming releases – Rajeev Ravi’s Thuramukham and Abrid Shine’s Mahaveeryar, which Nivin has also co-produced.

While Thuramukham, which has him playing a labourer based in Mattanchery, is a period film set in the 1940s and revolving around the chappa system, Mahaveeryar is a fantasy drama, which also has Asif Ali as part of the cast. The latter, which was extensively shot in Rajasthan, is based on a story by renowned writer M Mukundan.
