Sonakshi Sinha finally tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal. The Mrs. is now making headlines for her wedding reception, and the sweet kiss the couple shared after getting hitched. Another reason that Sonakshi was trending is because of a rumour that she wore her mother Poonam Sinha’s saree at the wedding. We’re here to break that bubble, for Sonakshi did not opt for her mother’s saree on June 23, 2024, when Sonakshi and Zaheer were officially married.
Sonakshi Sinha’s saree for her wedding
For her wedding, Sonakshi opted for an ivory-coloured saree. It was a plain blouse with minute criss-cross and floral design on the pallu. She kept it simple with small jhumka, a diamond-and-pearl choker, a white gajra, small bindi and minimal make-up. Zaheer complimented her wedding outfit with a white kurta.

While there are numerous black-and-white photos of Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha’s wedding, we managed to get out hands on a colour photo of the couple. And we can assure you, Sonakshi and Poonam’s saree was only slightly similar. Poonam wore a pink saree for her wedding. This had gold detailing on the border, and Poonam lay the chunni on her head. She was seen wearing a nathani, maang tika and chooda on her hand. Shatrughan, on the other hand, wore a velvety white sherwani with a pink dupatta around his neck.

As for the wedding reception, Sonakshi only recreated the chooda and gajra look from her mother’s wedding, which is also very common for new brides. She repeated her choker and wore a red saree for the wedding reception. Sonakshi wore emerald jewellery this time around and flaunted her engagement ring made up of diamonds. Zaheer repeated the colour white for the reception. This time, he went for western formals, with a white jacket.
Sonakshi and Zaheer were in a relationship for seven long years. They did not actually verbally confirm their partnership but almost always gave us hints. Ahead of the wedding, while it was initially reported that the Sinha family was unhappy, Shatrughan accepted Zaheer whole-heartedly and Poonam joined in the celebrations soon after.
