After a successful portrayal of Rahul in Star Jalsha’s Gaatchora, Anindya Chatterjee is all set for Hoichoi’s web series Noshtoneer. Directed by Aditi Roy, Noshtoneed features Sandipta Sen, Shoumo Banerjee, Angana Roy, Rooqma Ray, and others. Known to be an outspoken person, the actor earlier complained that he never got a chance to explore the world of OTT. In a candid chat with OTTplay, the actor talks about his entry to the digital world, the #MeToo movement and Noshtoneer, and a lot more.
Talking about working on a web series, Anindya said, “This is technically my first web series with Hoichoi. Many years ago, even before Hoichoi was formally created, I worked in Dupur Thakurpo. Ever since, no one thought of casting me. Finally, Aditidi called me and here I am.”
Talking about his character, Anindya said that his and his on-screen partner Rooqma’s character stands in contrast to the lead pair’s life. “We are living partners and my character runs a cafe. Even today, our society shows reservations about live-in partners. We stand in contrast to the married household of Aparna,” he said.
Noshtoneer delves into the life of Aparna, whose professor husband faces the charge of sexual misconduct from one of his college students. Talking about the #MeToo movement, Anindya said, “Every issue has two sides. The #MeToo movement gave voice to a lot of women. On the other hand, the same movement also encouraged a lot of toxic practices like media trials, social media trials, and so on. What happens to the accused family is captured in the show.”
Anindya is currently working in Gaatchora. “The timing of the serial is changed. I would like to work in television even after Gaatchora comes to an end,” the actor said.
