Not Diljit Dosanjh but Ammy Virk’s Punjabi films are most liked since 2021

Diljit Dosanjh might have ruled the Punjabi film industry for a while but since 2021, Ammy Virk’s movies have worked better. The proof of it is in his movies being among top two. Diljit’s films, on the other hand, make it to top five.

Ormax Media has unveiled a list of the most loved Punjabi films since 2021 (COVID-19 times). Although Diljit had his fair share of films, Ammy’s performed really well.

It is to be noted that the list has only considered movies which released till May 2023. While there hasn’t been an extraordinary hit since, the top Punjabi movies consist of films featuring Ammy Virk and Diljit Dosanjh.

Ammy Virk’s 2022 release Saunkan Saunkne remains one of the highest grossing films. It is, by default, also the most loved Punjabi movie since 2021.

His other film, Qismat 2, which also released in the same year, is the second most loved. Qismat had formed ripples in the industry and Qismat 2 managed to stay true to that.

Interestingly enough, Sargun Mehta also features in the top two films. She has been a constant with Ammy in Qismat and that is where their jodi was much-loved.

Neeru Bajwa’s Kali Jotta is the third most loved Punjabi film. The movie released in 2023 and became loved instantly.

Surprisingly, Diljit’s movies, despite receiving the love, are in bottom two (but make it to top five). His 2021 release Honsla Rakh is the fourth most loved and the 2023 film Jodi is fifth on the list. Jodi came as a surprise, for it consisted a story that seems to have paid tribute to Sidhu Moosewala.
