Not Honsla Rakh 2 but Diljit Dosanjh reunites with Sonam Bajwa-Shehnaaz Gill for THIS film

Back in 2021, the Punjabi film industry delivered a rom-com which won hearts unlike any. It was Honsla Rakh, featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Shehnaaz Gill and Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles. The second installment of the film is yet to be announced but the starcast has already collaborated for a new movie. The upcoming Punjabi film is called Ranna Ch Dhanna.

Ranna Ch Dhanna announcement was made through a poster. This graphic saw animated forms of the actors. They were dressed up like in the Mughal era. Diljit (or rather his animated form) further donned heart sunglasses with his yellow turban.

All you need to know about Ranna Ch Dhanna

Ranna Ch Dhanna is presented by the same makers as Honsla Rakh. It will release in theatres on October 2, 2014. The movie is written and helmed by Amarjit Singh Saron. Diljit is co-producing the movie with Daljit Thind and Pawan Gill. They have released the poster of the film and the movie is expected to go on floors soon.

What was Honsla Rakh all about

In Honsla Rakh, Sweety (played by Shehnaaz) was married to Yenkey Singh (Diljit Dosanjh) on the condition that they would not have kids and would rather focus on their careers. However, Yenkey and Sweety expect a child within months and this led to their divorce. Yenkey is now left as Honsla Singh (Shinda)’s single parent. One day, Yenkey falls in love with a yoga instructor Jasmine (Sonam Bajwa) but Sweety re-enters his life and thus begins the comedy of errors. All the three actors, including Shinda, received many accolades for their performance in the movie.

Is there going to be Honsla Rakh 2?

There is no certain update about whether the makers will make a movie on the sequel of Honsla Rakh. Even if they do come up with a sequel, the story might change because Jasmine had willingly accepted Yenkey and his son, Honsla. The previous film began when Sweety refused to accept custody for her and Yenkey’s son. Furthermore, Honsla Rakh is a dig on the fact that Sweety and Yenkey’s son is named Honsla. Thus, if the story changes, the title of the film might also change. For that reason, there is no certain update on Honsla Rakh 2 or if it will ever happen.
