Only days ago, when Kiccha Sudeep announced that the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup (KCC) cricket tournament would be back for a third edition, it was to take place in Mysuru on February 11 and 12. However, last evening, during an elaborate auction of players, wherein team ownership, captaincy, etc., were also determined by lots, it was announced that the two-day T-10 cricket tournament would be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 24 and 25.

Over two days, six teams – Ganga Warriors, Rashtrakoota Panthers, Vijayanagara Patriots, Wodeyar Chargers and Hoysala Eagles, will battle it out for supremacy. Beside having star ambassadors like Sudeep, Shivarajkumar, Dhananjaya, Upendra, Dhruva Sarja and Ganesh, each time also has one international cricket player each. This time around, KCC has Brian Lara, Suresh Raina, Subramaniam Badrinath, Herschelle Gibbs, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chris Gayle playing the tournament. Gibbs and Dilshan have played in the tournament earlier. “T-10 is a great format to ensure that there are multiple matches and a lot of entertainment for spectators. KCC was my dream and everyone who joins in is part of my family,” said Sudeep, announcing the third edition of the tournament,” Sudeep had said during the first press briefing of the tournament.

Interestingly, the list of all-rounders from Sandalwood include Trivikram, Chandan Gowda, Garuda Ram, Anup and Nirup Bhandari, Sunil Raoh, Loose Maada Yogi, among others, while filmmakers Pavan Wadeyar and Suni chip in as bowlers.

The two-day event, though, will not only be about cricket, and will include several entertainment programmes as well, the line-up and schedule of which will be announced in the coming days.

Match fixtures on February 24

  • Ganga Warriors vs Hoysala Eagles
  • Hoysala Eagles vs Wodeyar Chargers

Match fixtures on February 25

As per this draw, the Hoysala Eagles and the Vijayanagara Patriots will play two matches each in a day, and if either or both end up as the top two teams, they will also be in the final on February 25.
