Dharma Productions, headed by Karan Johar, teased big news on their official social media pages earlier today with a somewhat cryptic statement. According to the post, a monumental revelation concerns Karan's resumption of the director's role in a brand-new guise.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Karan will direct an action film starring two protagonists. As per the rumours, Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff will play key roles in the untitled project.
A reliable insider has revealed the following information to the entertainment portal: Karan will turn 51 on May 25, and with that, he wishes to begin a new path of filmmaking. The filmmaker has so far excelled at making films about families and couples. On the other hand, he's keen to test the waters with action films.
When pressed for an explanation, the source explained that for 25 years now, Karan has been creating a specific style of movie, and he is seeking to explore and change. It's healthy to try new things, and with his background in filmmaking, this transition should be a breeze for him. However, "action" is the new category Karan is considering.
Tiger has already established himself as an action star with films like Heropanti, Baaghi, and War, expanding on the casting decision. He has perfected the art of crowd entertainment with his high-octane antics. That Karan has cast him as one of the film's two main characters shouldn't come as much of a shock. Varun has also shown he has what it takes to become an action hero by appearing in several action films, albeit more in the genres of action drama and comedy.
Karan is hard at work securing the female roles, despite the fact that only Tiger and Varun have been confirmed as the film's male protagonists thus far. The source also indicates that he has been considering making a change for some time.
Karan has decided to give action movies a try because they frequently perform well at the box office and are well-liked by audiences.
