A few days ago, the major topic of discussion on social media was KGF: Chapter 3 and that the makers, Hombale Films, were looking at taking the Prashant Neel directorial on floors in October next year. Considering that Salaar Ceasefire is set for December 22 release and that the post Dasara phase is when promotions for the Prabhas-led film will start, it was thought that Prashant would head straight back to the set for Salaar 2 in early 2024, making the October 2024 timeline for KGF3 look a viable option. But then arose the question as to when Prashant would collaborate with Jr NTR on the film that was already announced, #NTR31?
Today, producers Mythri Movie Makers set the record straight and announced that #NTR31 will go on floors in April 2024. This would give Prashant only 6 months to shoot the film and finish up post-production, which, is a highly unlikely scenario. Given that Prashant has been busy with the post-production and some reshoots of Salaar until very recently, he will also need to dedicate enough time on the pre-production of #NTR31.
Then, if Salaar Ceasefire works at the box office, the filmmaker will have to wind up its second instalment before he can even think of KGF: Chapter 3. Of course, that will then depend on Yash’s availability at the time. The Rocking Star is yet to announce his next film, #Yash19 and he has been clear that he wants to do something else before returning to his most successful franchise. Following today’s #NTR31 announcement, some netizens even speculated that Prashant could possibly look at merging the Salaar and KGF universes and make one film that will serve as the sequel for Prabhas’ movie and a third in Yash’s franchise.
It was earlier said that if and when KGF: Chapter 3 does take off it will be in 2025 and at the moment that looks like the most likely scenario. Besides Salaar and KGF, Hombale Films will also look at getting some of their earlier announced projects on floors, like, for instance, Prithviraj’s Tyson and an untitled movie with Sudha Kongara.
