South Korean series, or K-dramas as they are popularly called, are all the rage right now and have been for a while. There are many things about such series that appeal to audiences worldwide — from the interesting plots to the good-looking actors, stylish outfits, and the fact that they are not vulgar. One other thing that stands out is the fact that most of them last only for one season, with around 15-20 episodes each. While this is a good thing, one is left with a void once a much-loved series ends after just one season, because you feel like you want to continue being a part of the story and experiencing it even longer.
This is why K-drama fans have been rejoicing ever since the makers of The Glory announced a second season. Not just that, the second season of the hit show Taxi Driver was received with much enthusiasm and excitement all across the world. And it doesn’t end here. Read on for a list of other K-dramas all set to return for another season:
Taxi Driver
Season 2 of Taxi Driver premiered on February 17, and it was an instant hit. It was the most-watched programme of any kind on the day of its premiere, seeing even higher viewership than season 1.
The Glory
Netflix recently announced a second season of this eight-episode revenge drama. The second season of The Glory will premiere on March 10 on Netflix, which means that fans can rejoice as their wait will not be too long.
All of Us are Dead
Loved All of Us Are Dead? Who didn't? The first season ended on a cliffhanger, and ever since, fans have been eagerly waiting to know what happens next. Well, the zombie apocalypse series was renewed for a second season in June 2022, but you will have to wait until the end of this year or early 2024 to watch season 2.
Squid Game
Squid Game was all that anyone could talk about when it was released. It's no surprise that the global sensation will return for a second season.Filming for the new season is set to begin this summer, which means that the second season won't be ready to air until mid or late 2024. What's more, season 3 is also likely to follow.
Vagabond
There hasn't been much clarity on season 2 of the espionage thriller, but its makers alluded to its possibility in an interview in November 2022. In another interview, actor Lee Seung-gi said that there is no way that the story of Vagabond can end with season 1. While it hasn't been officially announced yet, there have been reports that the filming of season 2 is underway at an undisclosed location.
Sweet Home
Sweet Home was an instant hit with zombie apocalypse fans, so when season 1 ended with a huge cliffhanger, a second season was to be expected. It's been three years since the first season was released, and the wait for season 2 is set to end this year. It has also been renewed for season 3.
The Uncanny Counter
Season 2 of the action-fantasy horror series was greenlit in January 2021. All that we know so far is that the original cast of the record-breaking drama will be reprising their roles in the new season. The filming of season 2 was delayed due to the unavailability of some of the actors, but the new season is expected to be released later this year.
Hellbound
It was in September 2022 that Netflix announced that Hellbound would return for a second season. The renewal of the horror series came as a pleasant surprise for fans. Filming of the new season will most likely begin later this year, so it can only be expected to release some time in 2024.
D.P.
There were many unanswered questions at the end of the first season, so there was reason to cheer when lead actor Jung Hae-first confirmed a second season of D.P. in a September 2021 interview. This was followed by an official Netflix announcement in December 2021. All that the streaming platform has said so far about the release date is that it will premiere in the third quarter of 2023.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo
The autistic lawyer Woo Young Woo won many hearts in the first season, so much so that audiences were left asking for more. And that call seems to have been answered, as the production house revealed that work has already begun on a second season. The team is aiming to release season 2 sometime in 2024.
