In a horrific incident, as many as 261 people have lost their lives and around 900 others have been injured in a horrific three-train collision in Odisha's Balasore on Friday evening. Conforming the development today morning, this is being reported as the country's deadliest rail accident in more than 20 years.
Since the morning today, several celebrities including those in the Bollywood industry are expressing grief on the development.
Megastar Alia Bhatt, who is the third most followed Indian actress on Instagram with 77.5 million followers, felt saddened to know about the development. She wrote: "What happened in Odisha has been one of the most heartbreaking accidents our country has ever seen."
Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma - the wife of most followed Asian celebrity on Instagram, Virat Kohli - also paid her heartfelt tributes. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, "Heartbroken by the news of the train tragedy in Odisha. Heartfelt deepest condolences."
Earlier in the day, Virat tweeted as well as said, "Saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured."
Actors Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol, Sonu Sood, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rashmika Mandanna, and others have also paid their tributes.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Odisha to take stock of the situation. Government sources close to news agency ANI believe that the Prime Minister will also visit the hospital and meet those injured in the tragic incident.
