Officer On Duty box office Kerala collection day 21: Kunchacko Boban made a splendid start at the ticket window in 2025 with his cop thriller movie, Officer On Duty. The Jithu Ashraf movie has been enjoying a successful run at the box office and the latest reports suggest that the Kunchacko Boban-starrer has surpassed the Kerala collections of Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram, which was the first hit of 2025 from Malayalam. Officer On Duty surpasses Rekhachithram in Kerala collections

Kunchacko Boban’s Officer On Duty, which released in theatres on February 20, 2025, opened to positive reviews and steadily won the audience appreciation too. Online industry trackers report that the Kerala gross collection of Officer On Duty has crossed 27 crore, surpassing that of Rekhachithram. 

The Asif Ali-starrer, on the other hand, registered a Malayalam net box office of Rs 26.6 crore, as per Sacnilk. However, the worldwide collection of Rekhachithram is around Rs 56.75 crore, according to the figures on the Sacnilk website.

Officer on Duty’s worldwide collections currently stand at Rs 49.72 crore, but this number will see a rise as there are no other major Malayalam movies releasing this week or even in the next. The big Malayalam release of March 2025 is Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, that will hit theatres only on March 27.  

None of the other Malayalam films in 2025 are anywhere near the box office collections of Officer on Duty and Rekhachithram, both of which are gripping thriller movies.

Once its theatrical run ends, Officer on Duty will reportedly be available for streaming on Netflix. Though an official release date is yet to be announced, the Kunchacko Boban-starrer is expected to land on OTT on March 20. The thriller film, which is penned by Shahi Kabir, also stars Priyamani, Jagadish, and Vishak Nair in other key roles.

Rekhachithram on OTT

Rekhachithram, which released in theatres on January 9, 2025, instantly registered impressive numbers and went on to become the first Malayalam hit of 2025. The much-loved film, starring Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan, is streaming on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium.
