They Call Him OG, or simply OG, debuted in theatres on Thursday, with paid premieres held the night before. The Pawan Kalyan-starrer has been getting decent reviews, along with some mixed reactions. Directed by Sujeeth, OG is a gangster actioner flick, and we had reported that the film will begin its innings at the box office with a 100-crore collection. Has it? Let’s find out.
OG box office collection day 0: How much paid premieres contribute?
As per a Sacnilk report, OG had made over Rs 23 crore with paid premieres itself, breaking Pawan Kalyan's previous record of Rs 15 crore with Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
The bookings for OG have made Rs 98 crore worldwide, with India's contribution being Rs 65 crore. The report further adds that with the film getting decent reviews and the first-day hype, the film can cross Rs 150 crore worldwide. The official numbers are yet to come from the production house. But if the guesses are indeed true, then OG will become the highest grosser for Pawan Kalyan. One has to wait and watch to see if OG will take over Pushpa 2’s opening, which was close to Rs 180 crore on day one in India. But OG has beaten the Allu Arjun film in the paid premiere earnings.
It is also to be noted that OG is A rated, which means only those above 18 years of age can watch the film. This can obstruct and hit collections, but if the Pawan Kalyan factor is enough to pull audience, it can create records at the box office.
