The Tamil romantic comedy film directed by Kaarthikk Sundar is a remake of the Telugu hit film Pelli Choopulu

Kaarthikk Sundar has decided to go for a direct digital release for his debut directional film. Starring Harish Kalyan and Priya Bhavani Shankar, the film will now release on Disney+Hotstar.
The streaming giant released the poster of the film on its Instagram handle announcing to the audience to catch the first show, the first day of the film on its platform. The film is likely to premiere on the Ayudha Puja weekend. However, there has been no official announcement on the same. The film is a remake of the Telugu hit film Pelli Choopulu.
According to sify.com sources, makers had reportedly planned for a theatrical release but upon receiving a lucrative offer from the platform, they decided to go for it even though theatres in Tamil Nadu are now open. The film was announced in 2016 when Gautham Vasudev Menon bought the rights to remake the Telugu film. But it suffered several delays due to date issues, and the change in cast and crew. The film finally completed its shooting in February 2020.
The title of the film, Oh Manapenne was annouced in October last year. The title is derived from the song of the same name from the film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. According to wikipedia, Kaarthikk was looking for a title related to weddings/matchmaking but found many of them to be old-fashioned or not so interesting. He finally derived at the title Oh Manapenne after listening to the song. The music for the film is composed by Vishal Chandrasekar and the camera is by Krishnan Vasant. The film is jointly produced by A Studios LLP, A Havish Production, SP Cinemas, Madhav Media and Third Eye Entertainment.
