Vinay Rai, who was seen in Suriya's Etharkum Thuninthavan and Arun Vijay's Oh My Dog, is currently on a break and is vacationing in Australia.
The actor flew a single-engine aeroplane, which will go down as one of his dream-come-true moments. In the video, an excited Vinay is seen steering the wheel and flying above a mountain in Sydney.
Vinay sums up the experience by quoting Pink Floyd's Learning to Fly. "There’s no sensation compared to this, suspended animation, a state of bliss," he said with a smile.
The actor has been quite active on social media lately by posting pictures and videos of his quality time down under.
Reflecting on his career, in an interview with Cinema Express, Vinay said he might have made a mistake by being in a hurry to sign all the films that came his way. “There were times when I would return from a shoot and feel dissatisfied."
He says he is now selective about the kind of roles he does. “I have to be convinced about my films at the end of the day. Acting is something I’ve nurtured over time,” he added.
Vinay, who was projected as a chocolate hero during his first few films, says he has rejected many love stories because he didn’t want to be stereotyped. “I have rejected at least 100 scripts between Unnale Unnale and Jayamkondaan because I didn’t want to play the same role. I want to do more than just fall in love with a girl," he was quoted in Cinema Express.
Vinay, who made his debut as a hero in Unnale Unnale (2007), tells the Indian Express, "The people who I work with have brought out the best in me. I would try to adapt to the director’s style whether it is Saran, Sundar C or Mysskin. Saran’s major strength is that he edits in his mind while he is directing. This enables him to improvise at any point on the sets.”
Candidly, he admitted in the interview, "I have felt ashamed of giving time to a few movies where they said something but pulled off something completely different. It is not that they made a bad movie but it’s just the way things turned out. I don’t want to repeat them. I would rather have done something that is professionally more satisfying."
Vinay recalls, “I was launched out of sheer luck. I didn’t realise the value of it or the aftermath. Only later, did the enormity kick in. No matter what a few people might want to say, on the contrary, I have proven myself to be a lucrative hero. I have had failures, no denying it. The problem now is that I am not able to break out that image. That’s becoming desperation now. But with every failure, hampers my next project drastically. For me, every movie matters. If this movie doesn’t do well, god knows where I will be tomorrow!”
