Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi is director-turned-actor Tarun Bhasckar’s new film and the official Telugu remake of the Malayalam hit Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. The family drama was promoted aggressively by the makers, but sadly, it has failed to perform at the box office.

As per the latest updates from tracking portal Sacnilk, Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi has reportedly collected only ₹75 lakh to date, which clearly indicates how poorly the film has been received by audiences right from its release. 

The film opened to extremely negative word of mouth. The disappointing trend continued, as on Day 4 of its theatrical run, Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi reportedly failed to even collect ₹10 lakh at the box office. This clearly reflects the weak run the film has had in theatres.

The family drama has already been removed from most theatres and is now gearing up for its OTT release. OTTplay had earlier reported that Aha has acquired the digital rights to the film, and it was initially scheduled to premiere in the third week of February 2026. However, given the poor theatrical performance, reports suggest that the makers have revised the deal and decided to bring the film to OTT within just two weeks of its release.

Eesha Rebba played the female lead in the film, and her performance won appreciation from viewers. She had pinned high hopes on this project, as she was in search of a solid hit in her career. While the film failed at the box office, her performance once again proved her acting prowess. 

Tharun Bhascker receives rave reviews for Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi

The one who benefited the most from the film, however, is Tarun Bhascker. Despite being a director, he chose this project as it gave him ample scope to showcase his acting skills. His Godavari accent, comic timing, negative shades, and chemistry with Eesha Rebba stood out and were widely appreciated.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is its second half, which lacks emotional depth and strong narration. While the original Malayalam version had ample drama, realism, and emotional weight, the Telugu remake completely lost its grip in the latter half and ended on an abrupt note. 

Social media has been flooded with comments questioning the need to remake a film that was already available here in Telugu-dubbed form on OTTplay Premium.
