Ombatthane Dikku is filmmaker Dayal Padmanabhan’s 19thouting as director, a film that he admits is based on an adapted screenplay, although he remains tight-lipped about the source material. The film, which has Loose Mada Yogi and Aditi Prabhudeva in the lead, amid an ensemble cast that includes Sai Kumar, Sampath Kumar, Ramesh Bhat and Prashant Siddi, among others, is tentatively slated for an early or mid-December release.
In the run-up to the film’s theatrical outing, on Tuesday evening, the team launched the trailer, which gives audiences a better understanding of what Ombatthane Dikku is all about. While Tamil star Arya did the honours of launching the trailer online, Challenging Star Darshan presented it to audiences. In an earlier conversation with us, Dayal had said, “It’s quite an unpredictable story, in which a bag becomes more important to the narrative than the hero himself.” And that is exactly what comes across in the trailer, as everyone is after a duffel bag that’s conspicuous because of the compass markings on it.
The trailer opens with an announcement of a temple idol worth well over Rs 5 crore going missing, so, naturally the assumption is that the bag, perhaps, contains the stolen item. Well, for that, though, we will have to wait for the film to release in theatres to know for sure. There are also glimpses of the ensuing love story between Yogi and Aditi’s characters, as well as the action in the narrative. Dayal’s trailer has been cut perfectly to tell audiences what to expect from his film- a fantastic crime thriller, narrated in non-linear fashion, which also has an emotional family element and a totally unexpected climax. The filmmaker adds that although the story is a thriller, the film is more of a family entertainer that will appeal to all audiences.
