Varun Dhawan has made it clear that he will be playing dark characters on the OTT platform. The actor has expressed his wish to play characters that have darker and grayer shades and according to him, OTT gives that chance to the actors. Varun, along with Kiara was in Kolkata on Tuesday to promote their film Jugjugg Jeeyo which will release on June 24. The family dramedy also features Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.

While talking about playing dark characters, Varun said that in film, he is usually ‘held back’ while portraying such characters but OTT platforms give the actors that chance to explore such characters. He admitted that he could not explore such characters since his portrayal of Raghu in Badlapur. “I think since then I haven’t played a dark character,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said that he will be seen on OTT in the future and there, his character will possibly be dark and grey. OTTplay reported that Varun is a part of the Citadel Indian remake that will be dropped on Amazon Prime soon. While reacting to the news, he commented, “I can’t comment but whatever it is going to be it is going to be Prime.” Besides Varun, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has also been roped in for Raj and DK’s show that will go on the floors in July, according to reports.

Varun and Kiara were spotted enjoying a touristy Tuesday in Kolkata. The duo took a yellow taxi ride, enjoyed rumball, and according to our sources, gorged on biryani and kebab for lunch. Varun also demanded to get hold of some mishti doi. While meeting the press, he finally got to taste some mishti doi. Varun will be back on the screen almost after two years with family comedy Jugjugg Jeeyo. The film delved into the crisis of marriage and divorce.
