Onde Ondu Sala, the second song from Darshan Thoogudeepa’s next, The Devil, was released in the evening of October 10 with a lyrical video. The song, a romantic duet between Darshan and heroine Rachana Rai, has been composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath and sung by Kapil Kapilan and Chinmayi and features a few glimpses of the lead pair in the song. The first impression is that Darshan’s fans have absolutely loved the actor’s look in the song.

The songs of The Devil were shot after the actor was released on bail in the Renukaswamy murder case and had time to recuperate before resuming work on the film. And that seems to have reflected in Darshan’s look. “#Dboss transformation speaks a lot in this song! 🔥He was trolled for looks and gives this banger at 48,” wrote a fan, while another chimed in,“In #OndeOnduSala , #DBoss is not just looking good…HE’S SERVING POWER + ROYAL ATTITUDE in every frame!”

Pretty much every comment is about how good Darshan looks in the song, especially against the picturesque backdrop of a pristine beach. Fans, however, remained divided about his chemistry with Rachana. While some thought that they made a great onscreen pair, there were some who thought the actress looked too young when paired with him, a sentiment that had been voiced about Aradhanaa in Kaatera as well.
Set for a December 12 release in theatres, The Devil will likely be out in Darshan’s absence, given that he is currently back in jail in connection with the Renukaswamy case. It was thought that the team would wait for the actor to get bail again or a favourable verdict in the trial to release the film, but given the uncertainty in the timeline, they decided to go ahead, with his blessings.
Q. Why was Darshan arrested?
A. Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024 in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. 35-year-old Renukaswamy was tortured to death for allegedly sending lewd messages to Darshan's alleged partner of many years, Pavitra Gowda and at his behest, the former was brought to Bengaluru, where he was beaten up and later succumbed to his injuries. Pavitra is accused number 1, while Darshan is accused number 2.
Q. When was Darshan given bail?
A. Darshan was granted interim medical bail in late November claiming he needed surgical intervention for a bad back issue. He was then granted regular bail by the High Court in mid-December, the circumstances of which have been questioned by the Supreme Court, which, on August 14, 2025, 8 months later, cancelled his bail.
