Kannada superstar Darshan is currently in Poland, where he is shooting for some sequences and songs of his next, Kranti. Last evening, Darshan took to social media to update his fans that the shoot was progressing well and added a note of thanks to them, whom he calls his celebrities, for all their support. The post was accompanied by an image of Darshan, with the actor looking all lean and trim, and his fans, of course, could not keep calm anymore. Soon enough, #DBoss, as the actor is known by his fans, was trending on social media.
Kranti is Darshan’s 55th film and has him reuniting with the team of his earlier Yajamana. The film is the second directorial of composer-turned-director V Harikrishna, who made Yajamana as well and is being backed by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha from their Studio Media House banner. The film pairs Darshan with Dimple Queen Rachita Ram for a third time, after Bulbul and Ambareesha.
When #D55 was revealed to be Kranti, it was understood that the film would be about a revolution of sorts, which was reinforced when a teaser was released for Darshan’s birthday this year. The film apparently has the actor taking the fight to the educational system. It was earlier reported that the film would have Darshan playing an NRI who returns to India to try and save a government Kannada-medium school. This, of course, had fans wondering how a subject as rooted in Kannada as this can be pushed as a pan-India movie.
The makers had announced at the start itself that Kranti would be released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. The team, we hear, is looking at releasing Kranti this year. The tentative date that is being speculated is during Dasara, given that the film went on floors on Vijayadashami last year. It could be a contender for Karnataka Rajyotsava too, now that Dhananjaya’s Hoysala will not make it to that date. As of now, the only film that is likely to release on November 1 is the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s dream project, Gandhada Gudi. While the makers have not confirmed this, if it does come out on November 1, it is unlikely that any other Kannada film will come out alongside.
