Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building makes the Arconia the epicentre of yet another grisly crime. This time around, the building’s long-serving doorman, Lester, winds up dead, which is, however, chalked up as accidental by the cops. Until, of course, the Only Murders in the Building podcast trio discover that his death may have been connected with the operation of a high-stakes gaming arena for the mob in the basement of the Arconia, run by a mobster, Nicky Caccimelio (Bobby Cannavale).
But then Nicky also winds up dead, and a mutilated finger finds its way into a shrimp cocktail from Oliver’s (Martin Sheen) wedding, prompting him and his podcasting buddies Charles (Steve Martin) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) to dig deeper. In the season opening episodes, which began with three on the trot on September 9 on JioHotstar (and OTTplay Premium), the Only Murders In The Building (OMITB) gang catch a glimpse of New York’s new mob – three ultra rich and very powerful people – one of who appears to be a missing a digit.

Until, of course, Mabel figures out that the finger in Oliver’s fridge is not Jay’s, but by then, the billionaire trio had successfully managed to silence the OMITB podcast, or have they?
