After the critical and commercial success of Operation Java, director Tharun Moorthy has chosen a completely different genre for his second movie Saudi Vellakka, which is produced by Urvashi Theatres’ Sandip Senan.
The movie, which is set to go on floors on September 16, is touted to be an entertainer revolving around a group of people in a coastal area. Much like Operation Java, Tharun has also adopted a realistic approach for the movie’s script with elements that would appeal to both the family and youth audience.
The film has debutante Devi Varma playing the central character along with Operation Java actors Lukman, Binu Pappu and Sudhi Koppa. Gokulan, IT Jose and a bunch of newcomers will also be part of the movie, which has its songs composed by Rex Vijayan’s assistant Pali Francis. Ambili’s cinematographer Sharan Velayudhan will be cranking the camera for the movie.
In a recent post, Tharun had shared that he had pitched the story of the upcoming movie to Sandip, who had produced movies such as Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Sathyam Paranja Viswasikkuvo, before the release of Operation Java, and the producer was pleased with its thread and gave him the go-ahead.
Meanwhile, the filmmaker also has plans for the sequel of Operation Java, which is currently streaming on Zee5. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Tharun told us, “The sequel is on, but we believe there will be restrictions even after the lockdown is over. When Operation Java released, even though the movie ran for 75 days in theatres, the cinema halls operated only at 50% capacity. So, I want to shoot and also release the sequel when everything is back to normal and people are coming to theatres like in the past. I already have a one-liner in mind that I have to develop.”
