Operation Romeo trailer: Hindi remake of Malayalam film Ishq comments on moral policing of the youth

The official trailer for filmmaker Neeraj Pandey's Operation Romeo starring Sidhant Gupta and Vedika Pinto was released today. It is the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam film Ishq. 

The clip opens with the two actors on a date in a car and is caught in the moment by a bully cop and his sidekick. The two cops, one of them played by Sharad Kelkar, don't let the couple go and comfortably seat themselves inside their car. 

The trailer shows how the cops try to blackmail and extort the young couple, and ultimately the clip takes an even worse chilling turn. Then begins Gupta's character's pursuit of revenge. 

The film is directed by Shashant Shah and is "is inspired by true events touching upon the moral policing young individuals face across the society," according to a press release.

Operation Romeo also stars Bhumika Chawla and Kishor Kadam. The film marks Pinto feature debut, who in a statement, said: "My character Neha comes from a very conventional background. She’s shy, coy, and comfortable within her own world but a series of unfortunate circumstances shake her ground and force her to reconcile with the perils of society."

Pandey, who is the producer, is known for A Wednesday, Baby, Rustom, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, and the Hotstar Specials series Special Ops.

Operation Romeo releases on April 22. Watch the trailer here —
