This Valentine fortnight, get ready to feel warm and fuzzy, irrespective of your dating status. Lionsgate is releasing its latest inspirational story, Ordinary Angels on February 23, 2024, in the United States. The team behind the films are not ordinary though, comprising of the talented production that brought Wonder and American Underdog, as well as the direction helmed by The Case for Christ-maker Jon Gunn. Scripted by Kelly Fremon of The Edge of Seventeen and actress Meg Tilly, the film also marked the feature writing debut of the Chucky actress.
The cast features two-time Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank as Sharon, the protagonist. It also stars Hunger Games: Catching Fire actor Alan Ritchson as Ed, as well as Nancy Travis, Tamala Jones, Drew Powell, Amy Acker, Skywalker Hughes, Stephanie Sy, Emily Mitchell, Nancy Sorel, Dempsey Bryk, Andrea del Campo, Ryan Allen, David Lawrence Brown, and Erik Athavale
The official synopsis reads, “Based on a remarkable true story, Ordinary Angels centers on Sharon, a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed, a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles and ordinary angels.”
The trailer of Ordinary Angels was dropped on May 1, 2023. The film was initially slated for an October release, but it was later postponed to February 2024. The tearjerker of a feel-good film is guaranteed to make your day and have you believe in the goodness in humans again.
