Oscars 2022: Lady Gaga, Zoë Kravitz, Chris Rock, Youn Yuh-jung among presenters

The Oscars on March 3 announced a lineup of six presenters that includes Lady Gaga, Zoë Kravitz, Chris Rock, Rosie Perez, Youn Yuh-jung, and Kevin Costner.

Movies inspire us, entertain us and unite us across the globe. That’s the precise goal of the show this year, and we’re thrilled to welcome the first of a stellar lineup joining the Oscars stage to help us celebrate the power of film and honor the year’s best in filmmaking," said Oscars producer Will Packer in a statement, quoted by Variety.

While the last year's ceremony was a hostless affair, this year Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall will be the emcees. The event was also one of the lowest-rated on television and held with reduced capacity at Los Angeles' Union Station instead of the Dolby Theatre.

This time the ceremony will take place in full capacity at the Dolby Theatre on March 27. In February, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAs) had said that proof of vaccination will only be required for the nominees and guests, but not the presenters and performers, writes Variety. 

The AMPAs had also announced that eight categories of winners will be announced off air, a decision that was met with backlash. The winners for Documentary Short, Film Editing, Make-up and Hairstyling, Original Score, Production Design, Animated Short, Live Action Short, and Sound will be announced before the start of the live telecast. 

Jane Campion's Western The Power of the Dog is leading the race with 12 nominations, followed by Denis Villenueve's adaptation of Dune with 10. India has also made its presence known in this year's ceremony with the documentary Writing With Fire bagging a nomination.
