The Emma Stone starrer Cruella bagged the prestigious Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Based on the character Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians, the crime-drama movie has been directed by Craig Gillespie.

After receiving the Oscar for Best Costume Design, Designer Jenny Beavan shared her excitement about the prestigious award. Talking about where she got inspired for all her designs in the film, Beavan mentioned during a press meet that it's all from the script of the movie. "Also, I have to be honest, I was there in the 70s and part 77 was my heyday of actually buying clothes and having a relatively good figure and going to places like Beiber and knowing about Vivian Westwood, although I couldn't afford her. But I was around so I had a real memory of that time," she added.

Apart from Stone, who portrayed the titular character, Cruella stars Emma Thompson in a major role with Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Mark Strong as supporting characters.

Made on a budget of $200 million, the crime-drama flick earned $233.5 million at the box office.

The story of the 2021 flick has been written by Aline Brosh McKenna, Kelly Marcel and Steve Zissis, while Dana Fox and Tony McNamara has done the screenplay.

Backed by the production giants Walt Disney Pictures, Marc Platt Productions and Gunn Films, Cruella is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
