OTT platforms vie with each other for streaming rights to Rajasekhar’s crime thriller Shekar

Rajasekhar’s 91st movie, Shekar, is certainly generating a lot of noise. Several OTT platforms are in a neck and neck competition to bag the streaming rights to the crime thriller, and there are speculations that the film might even go in for a digital release.

According to a press release, the upcoming Jeevitha Rajasekhar helmed film has reportedly been offered a sum between 22 to 25 crore rupees for a direct digital release. It has not been revealed whether or not the makers will accept the proposal.

The first glimpse of the upcoming crime thriller was unveiled recently which gives a peek into the film’s thrilling premise. When a shocking double murder takes place, the titular protagonist, a retired police officer is called on to the scene. His massy entry and a voice over to hype him up signal that the film will certainly be an entertaining watch for die hard Rajasekhar fans.

In addition to Rajasekhar, the film also features Aathmeeya Rajan, Muskaan Kubchandhani, Abhinav Gomatam, Kannada Kishore, Sameer, Bharani, Ravi Varma and Shravan Raghavendra, among others.

Jeevitha has directed the film, from a script written by Lakshmi Bhupala. The film is produced under the banners of Pegasus Cinecorp, Taurus Cinecorp, Sudhakar Impex IPL, and Tripura Creations. The film’s music is by Anup Rubens while Mallikarjun Naragani is the cinematographer.

The director had earlier revealed that the makers are planning to release Shekar some time in 2022.
