OTTplay awards 2022: Abhimanyu Dassani bags the Best Male Debut for Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Abhimanyu Dassani has bagged the award for the Best Male Debut for his performance in the romantic comedy Meenakshi Sundareshwar. Hina Khan presented the honour, which was accepted by Abhimanyu Dassani's mother, actress Bhagyashree.

The actor stated in Hindi first, "I could not come here because I haven't got any work yet. Sorry Raveena (Tandon), I took your line again but I am so happy that my son has made me proud. Not once, but thrice over for every work he has done and I just hope that you keep loving him like this. I hope he can live up to your expectations and do better and better work as in the time to come. Thank you so much for giving him this, he is gonna be thrilled and he is gonna say 'mom, I hope you thanked everyone.' Thank you all of you for watching it for making him who he is today. Thank you so so much."

Meenakshi Sundareshwar is a 2021 Netflix film that was helmed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra under the auspices of Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital division of Johar's Dharma Productions. Soni and Aarsh Vora penned the story together. Meenakshi Sundareshwar had Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani as the main characters, a newlywed couple. The actors portrayed the fundamental hardships of a long-distance marriage.
