Bollywood actor-director-producer Farhan Akhtar, who attended the event with his wife Shibani Dandekar, not only looked dapper in his black suit and matching hat, he also took home an important award for his excellent acting chops at the OTTplay Awards 2022.

While accepting his award, which was presented to him by actress Divya Dutta, Farhan Akhtar said, "I thank the jury who like boxing films (laughs!). I quickly must say thank you to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the director of Toofan, Anjum Rajabali the writer and to my incredibile cast who worked with me in the film: Mrunal (Thakur), Hussain Dalal, Paresh Ji (Rawal) and all of them. I am thankful to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the incredibile music and honestly, I mean, when I started making this film it was a lot more than about just boxing. Yopu know, it was about life giving you a second chance. Before we could release the film, of course, the pandemic hit. The world went into an absolute still, into a pause mode and many people suffered tremendously. Hopefully, for whateveer its worth, in a little way, if people know that there's hope then there's always a second chance and that is what this movie is all about (sic)."

For the unversed, the inaugural OTTplay Awards and Conclave, a marquee event from the house of Hindustan Times, aims to honour the best talent, movies and web series across 10 Indian languages and a plethora of OTT platforms that premiered on streaming services the past year.

The event, which has taken place on Saturday (September 10) has opened with a conclave inviting leaders in the OTT space, celebrities, content creators, advertisers, and technology enablers to deliberate on the future of OTTs and how it will reinvent the entertainment business. This will be followed by the OTTplay Awards — India's First Pan-India OTT Award Show.
