OTTplay Awards 2022: JD Chekravarthy wins best debut actor series for Dayaa

The evergreen JD Chekravarthy has won the best debut actor male at OTTplay Awards and Conclave 2023. The actor bagged the trophy for his debut web series Dayaa. 

He was seen as Dayaa, a fishing van delivery river in the web series. "I think I deserve to get this 'Best Debut' award. Like Kajol, my film Satya also completed 25 years this year. I would like to thank JD Chakravarthy, which is me because I put in a lot of effort as an actor," he quipped after receiving the award. 

"Anything good about my performance in Dayaa is purely my director Pawan. Anything bad is puerly mine," he said, while thanking all other cast and crew memebers of the series. 

The series was directed by Pawan Sadineni, who also won the best director at OTTplay Awards for the same series. The show also had Eesha Rebba, Ramy Nambeesan, Vishnupriya, and Josh Ravi in key roles. 

Dayaa was one of the most viewed Telugu series on Hotstar in the year 2023. The show tells the story of Dayaa, played by JD Chekravarthy, a van driver who finds a dead body in his van and how his simple life changes upside down. 

Dayaa marks the Telugu OTT debut of JD and he won rave reviews for his performance in the show. The way he played the subtle role of Dayaa showcased how versatile he can be as an actor.

OTTplay Awards 2023 took place on October 29, 2023. The awards took place in Mumbai and some of the biggest names from Hindi and regional cinema graced the event and made it a massive success.
