The OTTplay Awards and Conclave 2022 proved to be an event which cut across barriers, honouring the best of OTT content across languages in the country. The awards, hosted by Maniesh Paul and Gauahar Khan saw web shows, OTT films, actors and filmmakers bag top honours for their works in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The Readers’ Choice Award for Best Series was bagged by Prasanth Pandiyaraj for his work on Vilangu. The filmmaker directed and scripted the crime thriller series.
The award was presented to the Tamil filmmaker by Ritabhari Chakraborty and Shibani Dandekar. Expressing how happy he was to be at the event, Prashant was as humble as ever as he thanked the producers of Vilangu in his acceptance speech.
Vilangu features Vemal, Ineya, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth and R. N. R. Manohar in pivotal roles. The crime thriller series revolves around the story of a police officer who investigates a series of gruesome murders, while trying to balance the difficulties in his personal life as well. Part of the review of the film on OTTplay reads “With a fast-paced screenplay and smartly written sequences, Vilangu is one of the best series to have released in Tamil”.

Meanwhile, the OTTplay Awards and Conclave was held at Mumbai on September 10, Saturday. The event, which was livestreamed on OTTplay’s official Youtube channel, saw a number of silver screen stars grace the event, including Arya, Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Hina Khan, Priyadarshi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kishore, Rajendra Prasad, Konkona Sen Sharma, and many more.
Arya shared the Best Actor Male (Jury) award with Farhan. Suzhal- The Vortex earned directorial duo Pushkar-Gayatri the award for Best Screenplay (Series). Filmmaker Pa Ranjith was awarded the Filmmaker of the Decade award.
