The advent of OTT has been nothing short of a disruptive phenomenon in the entertainment field. The advent of a plethora of streaming platforms have revolutionised the way audiences can consume content, with an almost infinite number of titles available for streaming at their fingertips. Surely, such an innovation as that deserves to be celebrated, and that is exactly what the first annual OTTplay awards seek to do.

The OTTplay Awards and Conclave 2022, from Hindustan Times, will recognise the best in OTT content in the country spanning across languages and genres. The awards will honour the best of OTT content which debuted in the digital space in the past year. The event will be held in Mumbai on September 10, Saturday.

The event will bring together some of the most celebrated names who have graced the world of OTT, both behind the camera and in front of it. Some of most seasoned and expert names in the entertainment industry, have been handpicked to be a part of the OTTplay Awards jury. Adil Hussain, Divya Dutta, Aanand L. Rai, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and HT City's Resident Editor Neha Sharma are the experts who are a part of the jury for this year’s awards.

The audiences, the very backbone of the entertainment industry, too were given the chance to make sure that their favourites do not miss out on a chance to bag an honour at the OTTplay Awards 2022. Viewers were asked to vote and choose the winning titles across six categories, including Best Web Original Film, Best Webseries, Best Actor Male (Webseries), Best Actor Female (Webseries), Best Actor Male (Film) and Best Actor Female (Film).

The nominees this year reflect the extent of stellar talent that the OTT space has witnessed this year, which cut across the lines of language specific industries and genres. From riveting web shows like Suzhal(Tamil), Family Man(Hindi) and Kudi Yedamaithe(Telugu) to some stellar performances by Tovino Thomas, Kriti Sanon, Dhananjaya, Keerthy Suresh, Arya, Revathy and more, the OTTplay Awards 2022 have handpicked some of the most outstanding works and performances OTT has witnessed this past year to give them the recognition they rightfully deserve.
