Popular Malayalam actress Darshana Rajendran took home the award for the Best Actor in a Negative Role for her stellar performance in director Krishan's Purusha Pretham.

Darshana was presented the award at this year’s edition, which was held in Mumbai on October 29. In her acceptance speech, the Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey actress said, “I am happy to be here. I am a big fan of Kajol and I have grown up watching her films. So it's fascinating to see her sitting here. It's lovely seeing all of you."

Talking about Purusha Pretham, which got her her first award in a negative role, Darshana said, "Purusha Pretham was a very small film that my director Krishand was very hesitant to offer it to me because this character was nothing like someone playing a lead role would do. He was sure I was going to reject it. But that's exactly why I wanted to do it and I jumped right in. It was an experience like none other. It got me my first award in a negative role."

Purusha Pretham follows the struggles of two cops who come under the scanner after they misplace an unidentified dead body. The film features Darshana Rajendran, Alexander Prasanth, Jagadish, Maala Parvathi, Rahul Rajagopal and Geethi Sangeetha, and it was released on Sony LIV earlier this year.
