After the successful beginning, India's first OTT awards event is back this year to celebrate the incredible performers, filmmakers and storytellers in the field of OTT and reward them with OTTplay 2023 Awards. In the category of Best Supporting Actor Male, Sharib Hashmi has bagged the award for his impeccable performance in Tarla opposite Huma Qureshi.

Sharib Hashmi on winning the prestigious award

During the event on Sunday, Sharib shared a heartfelt note and mentioned, "I want to say many things. I was watching DDLJ with my daughter yesterday. That 10-year-old reacted the same way we did when we were in college. This is my first supporting award which I am not getting for The Family Man. I am here because of Raj and DK. They helped kickstart my journey. This is an extremely special award for me because it is my first for Tarla. The film is very close to my heart because it was modelled after my father - the moustache, trousers, checkered shirts - they all represent him. There are times when I felt my dad was sitting there and watching me. He always wanted me to be an actor but I never pursued acting while he was alive. Hence, I dedicate this award to my father. I would also like to that Piyush Gupta, who directed and wrote the film. Ashviny Iyer Tiwari, Nitesh Tiwari, Ronnie sir, everybody involved with Tarla and especially, my co-actor Huma Qureshi, who supported me through it all, I found a friend for life in her."

About Tarla

Based on the life of the infamous Indian chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal, the comedy-drama film chronicles the events that take place in her life as she becomes the popular face in the field of Indian vegetarian cuisine in front of the world. Sharib plays the character of Tarla's husband Nalin Dalal, who becomes an inspiration to Indian men, who always have their partner's back when they strive for their passion. The Piyush Gupta directorial is bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari under the banner of RSVP Movies and Earthsky. Tarla is available to stream online only on ZEE5.
