OTTplay Awards 2025: Patralekhaa wins the Breakthrough Performance (Female) accolade for IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack

Actress Patralekhaa's breathing performance in the Netflix's IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack mini-series helped her garner immense applause from critics, as well as the audiences. Hence, the third edition of OTTplay Awards honoured her with Breakthrough Performance (Female) accolade today, on March 22, 2025.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is an exciting crime thriller mini-series, which consists of six episodes, that tells the true story of a horrific event that shook the nation. In 1999, Indian Airlines Flight 814 was hijacked by terrorists, putting the lives of everyone on board at risk. The show takes viewers on a gripping journey, recreating the intense drama and negotiations that unfolded as the Indian government raced against time to rescue the hostages and bring the hijackers to justice.

Patralekhaa, who was presented the award by Shekhar Suman at the show that was hosted by Aparshakti Khurana and Kubra Sait, said, "I want to Thank Anubhav Sir. He was not sure whether to cast me or not. It took 6 months to convince. My husband (Rajkummar Rao) is here. Thank you Raj for being the loudest cheer for me." IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is the fifth venture into web series space of Patralekhaa. Previously, she amazed fans in series like Bose: Dead/Alive, Forbidden Love, Main Hero Boll Raha Hu, and Teerandaz. Back in September 2024, the 35-year-old actress told OTTplay in an exclusive interview that it's like a dream came true for her to work with filmmaker Anubhav Sinha.

However, her experience working in the series was quite memorable. She shared that just being inside the flight was claustrophobic, it was scary. There were so many people and no place for movement. Also, the crew was put in a situation of hijack so it cannot be comfortable.

OTTplay Awards 2025 also saw the who's who of Indian's OTT space turn up, celebrating the theme - 'One Nation, One Award'. Kajol, Jyotika, and others were also honoured at the shimmering award event, which has held from film industries including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
